We are located at Paseo la Biosfera, 2, 01013 Vitoria-Gasteiz and have been open since June of 2017. Our first school was located at Calle Paseo de Berlín nr. 6, Vitoria-Gasteiz and operated from September 2015 until May 2017.
Our current building is perfectly prepared for our students. It has bright and spacious classrooms that have been adapted to the children’s necessities. We have an interior garden with sprouts and aromatic plants as well as an exterior flower garden.
We have newly designed and spacious classrooms. The children in our Montessori School are grouped by 7-12 months, 1-3 years, 3-6 years and 6-12 years. Each classroom is between 80-95 square meters, which allows for open and spacious learning. We are currently gaining credentials to be an internationally authorized school.
This school follows the principles of the Montessori International Association, with teachers that are trained and specialized in Montessori Pedagogy. Our method is based on the respect for student autonomy, initiative, the constant exploration and the search for knowledge, exercising the mind, and self-discipline. Through these methods, each child’s capabilities are strengthened. The classroom, the environment, and the staff are fundamental to the Montessori Pedagogy.
In Montessori Vitoria-Gasteiz, we see each student as unique, care about communicating with families, having meetings, getting to know each student, and share common themes in “pedagogical cafes” which will take place throughout the school year.
Educational methods through Montessori closely align with AMI and the Spanish Association Montessori. All guides have educational experience.
Trilingual school (Basque, Castilian, and English).
Children from 7 months- 1 year are welcome.
“Education in nature” is the ability to work with indoor and outdoor plants. In our school’s interior garden we have sprouts and aromatic plants. In our exterior garden, the children observe fruits, flowers, harvest, etc.
Each day, a child has access to experience and enjoy indoor and outdoor garden activities and through classroom dynamics they acquire learning skills, independence, self-esteem, and knowledge that they will have for their entire life.
Through the Montessori methodology and faithful to all the principles of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), each class is offered an environment that meets the internal needs of each child as well as support in developing their highest potential. We are associated with the Spanish Montessori Association (AME).

Characteristics of Montessori School Vitoria-Gasteiz
In each classroom there are two teachers trained in Montessori Pedagogy, through the International Montessori Association, and each teacher uses a different language to address the child.
In the classroom of 1 to 3 year olds, one guide teaches in Basque and another guide teaches in English.
In the classroom of 3 to 6 year olds, Basque and English is taught simultaneously when working with different materials, scientific vocabulary, and geography. At times, a third teacher that speaks Castilian is in the classroom for a few hours to practice vocabulary.
At our school, English speaking is apart of a child’s everyday life. Our professional English guides are native speakers and speaking English is integrated into daily routines so that students perform spontaneously and naturally.
The Montessori Pedagogy works with an interrelated curriculum, which is connecting different areas of knowledge in an undisciplined way, providing a universal vision instead of giving isolated subjects.
The construction of this curriculum is based on the psychological, physical, and emotional needs of children in each period of their lives and this curriculum covers the objectives of the official program. The activities in our Montessori classroom offer experiences that help a child’s autonomy, development, and at the same time provide a huge enrichment of intellectual and emotional contents.
Environment Prepared – Classroom Montessori
Environment determines the learning experience, so we have neat and scientifically developed classrooms by Dr. Maria Montessori. Using her methodologies -natural materials, natural light, classroom order, materials adapted to their ages- allow teachers to target aspects that contribute to creating a serene atmosphere.
In Montessori School Vitoria-Gasteiz, we have prepared an environment for learning. Our school has a full set of Montessori educational materials specific for each age group and all educators are trained in this pedagogy. These factors enable all children to work autonomously.
The process that allows a child to experiment and learn, is one that offers educational activities in the classroom while being accompanied by a teacher who is watching them, knowing their states of interest, and supplementing their learning by providing a rich environment in activities and materials.
A child learns through their relationships and interactions with our prepared classrooms. Through experiences, they make decisions, are independent, learn from their mistakes, feel the joy of personal discovery, and have the desire to repeat meaningful experiences.
Children prepare balanced and nutritious breakfasts midmorning, as part of our daily routine, using seasonal ingredients. Children eat in their classroom with their guides, so that they are in a familiar, relaxed, and enjoyable space.
Following the principles of Slow Food International, we consider food to be a tool through which to promote healthy diets and commitment to the environment.
